An Explosion-Proof Device for Compressed Gas Cylinders in Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus

Recently, a patent for an explosion-proof device for SCBA cylinders, filed by Shanghai Leading Enterprise Development Co., Ltd., was officially granted by the Chinese national patent authority.

According to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 (SOLAS 1974) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), ships are required to carry a prescribed number of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) units. During the filling process of SCBA cylinders, the internal temperature rises in tandem with increasing pressure, creating potential safety hazards. This invention improves the reliability and safety of the equipment through optimized structural and material design. It has now been widely applied in SCBA used in the maritime industry, providing strong support for the protection of life at sea.
